“Voters in Ohio’s 13th congressional district are overwhelmingly against congressional proposals that would allow heavier and more dangerous tractor trailers on state roads. The results come as Congress is debating the issue. Federal law currently limits trucks to 80,000 pounds. But some lawmakers want to raise that to 91,000 pounds and well beyond.
A poll of 917 residents of the district found 74% against the increased weight limits and only 13% supporting. Nearly seven in 10 strongly opposed a related congressional proposal to allow each state to use public highways as a test track for heavier trucks under a so-called pilot program. The poll was commissioned by the Coalition Against Bigger Trucks, a nonprofit, grassroots organization.”
