weights.

- A February 2003 national poll concludes that 89% of likely
voters oppose allowing triple trailer truck operations, even after
hearing arguments for and against the use of triples. Moreover, 73% of
those polled disagreed with the trucking industry argument that
decisions as to truck size and weight should be left to the states.
When voters were asked to select the most persuasive argument in
support of or in opposition to triples, 63% cited safety as being the
most important concern. Only 2% of those polled believed that lower
cost for consumers was more important than safety. The national
research firm of Cole Hargrave Snodgrass & Associates conducted the
poll.
